Senior UX/Service strategy consultant

To lead or play a key role in digital product and service strategy projects.


Knowledge, skills, experience and relationships needed for this job, include:

  • 5+ years in digital product/service design and strategy, at least some of which within agencies
  • Expertise in situating problems within the bigger picture and thinking clearly in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to systematically analyse a client problem, with a systems mindset
  • Capability to create visions, strategic concepts and propositions
  • Ideally have experience of planning and envisioning multi-touchpoint services
  • An appreciation of technical and organisational implementation considerations
  • Early MVP/prototyping and testing techniques
  • Organises own time and delegates effectively, and drives constantly for project team results
  • Anticipates client needs, and fosters excellent client relationships in all interactions
  • Strong verbal, written and graphic communications skills (using Adobe CC)
  • Nice to have: experience in transport/mobility, consumer technology or healthcare
  • Nice to have: a client network
  • Nice to have: a background in Industrial Design
  • Nice to have: have been published and spoken at industry events

Key tasks

Client projects

  • Lead project teams, or contributes to projects at a senior level , in client facing role   
  • Develop and presents high quality and compelling deliverables                                                       
  • Manage budget resources and budgets effectively                                                                                                

Business development

Work with BD team to:

  • Network with client and industry contacts
  • Develop new business opportunities 
  • Plan projects and write proposals


  • Proactively lead change initiatives as a member of management team
  • Line manage and shows clear leadership to junior staff by working with them to improve performance and develop their knowledge  
  • Demonstrate sound judgement, and the ability to resolve conflicts and establish priorities
  • Deliver ‘Skills shares’ to pass on capabilities to the team

Product strategy consultant

Help develop our client accounts by managing and delivering front-end innovation projects.

Knowledge, competences and experience

  • A background in product/interaction/service design, preferably educated to post-graduate level
  • Experience in front-end innovation projects
  • Able to deal with complexity, ambiguity and paradox
  • Mix rigour with creativity
  • Combines a big picture perspective with an eye for product experience detail
  • Can systematically breakdown and tackle problems
  • Works rigorously with a high attention to detail and quality
  • Experience of managing projects and project teams
  • Able to juggle priorities to get things done in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal, written and graphic communicator

Key tasks

  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams, which include people at Plan and external partners.
  • Understand and develop cogent points of view on our clients’ key issues
  • Write successful proposals and managing project budgets
  • Work with senior team members to facilitate and guide client teams through project processes
  • Facilitate client workshops
  • Deliver insightful, strategic and compelling presentations to senior management audiences
  • Develop new processes, tools and resources
  • Coach junior staff in the development of their capabilities and project delivery

Support product and service strategy projects for our mobility, consumer technology and healthcare clients

Knowledge, competences and experience

The key areas of knowledge, competencies and experience you will need:

  • be a recent product/service design graduate (or similar) with previous work experience
  • have a keen interest in, and experience of, consumer research, user experience design and service design
  • be an analytical and intuitive thinker who can use both sides of your brain to help our team identify opportunities, develop strategies
  • have a systematic and structured approach to problem solving
  • be an enthusiastic team player, who is eager to learn and help
  • be able to deal with complexity, ambiguity and paradox
  • be a compelling visual communicator, proficient in InDesign and Photoshop
  • be a clear written communicator, able to summarise ideas and observations clearly and 
  • work rigorously with a high attention to detail and quality

Key tasks

  • assist in the set-up, moderation and capturing of design research
  • analyse  research data to help uncover insights and identify opportunities
  • develop service and UX strategies, and create tools that help our clients implement their strategies
  • craft  visuals to communicate complex ideas in simple and compelling ways
  • assist in the set-up, running and capturing of client workshops
  • work with senior members of our team to develop compelling presentations, books 
and interactive deliverables
  • set-up and organise project data and resources
  • track industry trends and keep our team updated on relevant news
  • manage internal knowledge management resources e.g. archiving projects, 
updating image bank etc
